Stress
Undoubtedly, stress is one of the biggest problems of our times. Almost all scientists agree that it may lead to serious consequences, starting from simple colt, through heart attacks and finally cancer. Stress is responsible for weakening the immune system and thus increasing your susceptibility to those diseases. Therefore, it is so important to learn how to cope with it.
What is stress?
As stress we understand a difficult situation, which disconcerts and disturbs someone seriously. Its major feature is that in a stressful situation it is unable to use known solutions and react subconsciously. Stress is a reaction for dangerous or disconcerting situations, which require finding new solutions in a short period of time.
What can be affected by stress ?
- The immune system (higher risk of infections)
- The digestion system (disturbed absorption of nutrients)
- Heart and the circulatory system (higher risk of heart attack)
Those are three major systems of each organism. If we manage to keep them in good condition, we will surely stay healthy for many years.
How to cope with stress.
Positive attitude. Unfortunately, it is often very difficult to change our habits that have been shaping our everyday life for many years. Sometimes we have to say – enough! It is a good idea to say every day in the morning “everything is perfect, I am happy, I have no problems”. In the time of the common rat race, job shortages and overflow of news and other information – mostly bad news – it is very difficult to maintain mental balance, but we have to try.
Exercises. This is another problem. I would not like to write any clichés here, as we all know that exercises improve both - health and mood greatly. They also are very helpful when it comes to relieve everyday tension.
Conversation. This is probably the most pleasant and simplest “antistress treatments”. Unfortunately, most of us do not have enough time for relaxing conversation with friends and relatives. Speaking with others about our problems and everyday chores helps us relieve tension and strengthen our social bonds.
Contemplation. Many people may understand this term differently. For some contemplation is along mountain trip, for others it is a prayer and for others it means reading a good book. I only hope that you do not consider shopping as contemplation. Maybe it is a good idea to visit a silent place, like a church.
What if the above methods are not enough?
